My Story
I don’t think I realized how much I loved art until about the third grade. I wrote and illustrated my first book for Mrs. Stieber, it was called Not Enough Shoes. A centipede in search of enough matching pairs of shoes for the big dance. I was selected to attend a young authors conference at Toledo University to share my book with other students and published authors. That day it was the guest illustrator that really got my attention. I went on to earn my BFA in illustration from The Columbus College of Art & Design where I graduated Summa Cum Laude.
I spent my early years illustrating and designing in-house for a children’s publishing company. There I learned hands on all phases of the publishing process from concept through pre-press. Those years also gave me the opportunity to work directly with licensors and licensed products. Since that time I have worked as a freelancer. I have successfully illustrated and designed multiple children’s educational workbook interiors and covers, educational flash cards and boxes, board books, coloring and activity books and greeting cards.
Some of my clients over the years have included: Crabtree Publishing, Lerner Publishing Group, Seahorse Publishing, TCM (Teacher Created Materials), Carson Dellosa Education, Rourke Educational Media, MasterPieces Puzzle Company, Positive Promotions, School Speciality Publishing, Learning Horizons, Bendon, McGraw-Hill Children’s Publishing, Martin Designs, Tommy Nelson, Arrow International, Leap Year Publishing, Kappa Books, and Landoll.
I reside in Norwalk, Ohio with my husband, daughter and a border collie named Ozzie. When I’m not creating something wonderful for my clients, I like to decorate, landscape, ride roller coasters, and spend time with friends and family.
